Joël Robuchon was born in Poitiers, France, in 1945 and began his apprenticeship at a hotel restaurant when he was fifteen years old. In 1981, he opened his own restaurant in Paris, Jamin, which had earned three Michelin stars by 1984. It was the fastest rise in the guidebook's history. Named "Chef of the Century" in 1989 by the Gault Millau, he closed Jamin in 1996 to explore new territories. He now works as a consultant and runs L'Atelier restaurants around the world through which he has collected the largest number of Michelin Stars of any Chef.

    Even better than the renovated original Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong. I love the big round bath tubs. Their set of toileterie products is the best I have found in any hotel. It is my favorite hotel in Hong Kong.

  • Hotel Metropole

    Monte Carlo, 모나코

    Bathrooms are critical to my appreciation of a hotel. I love the rain showers at Hotel Metropole. They are becoming more common in hotel bathrooms nowadays, but the range is wide in terms of performance. Theirs are at the top.

  • The Soho Hotel

    London, England, 영국

    Their understated modern vibe is a subtle thing to capture. I feel inspired in The Soho Hotel - a great illustration of British talent.

  • Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

    Bangkok, 타이란드

    The obvious classic. There are so many great hotels in Bangkok. The Oriental may not be the most up-to-date. So, it must be purely emotional.
