말라케(Marrake)에서 리아드(Riyad)만큼 좋은 숙소는 없습니다. 리아드는 중앙 정원을 중심으로 안 쪽으로 배치된 구 시가지의 개별 주택으로, 달 왈다(Dar Warda)는 객실이 겨우 4개뿐인 매우 작고 은밀한 호텔로 사실 호텔이라기 보다는 개인의 별장에 가깝습니다.
리아드(Riyads)는 모두 벽으로 마감되어 있고, 더브(derb)를 통해서만 접근할 수 있는데, 대부분 자동차가 지나가기에는 너무 좁지요. 따라서 따라서 도심의 길가와 광장에서 들려오는 온갖 소음과 소동으로부터 고립되어 있습니다. 아마 그래서 달 왈다의 매력이 담장 너머 외부에서는 별로 느낄 수 없을지도 모르지요. 백 년이 넘은 묵직한 고목으로 만들어진 문을 통과하고 나서야 리야드의 매혹적인 모습이 드러납니다. 작은 연못이 솟아 오르는 내부 정원은 이 저택의 중심이자 만남의 광장입니다. 미로와 같은 복도로 둘러 싸이고, 위층에서 누군가 걷는 소리가 들릴 정도로 사방은 고요하고 신비합니다.
